After our early visit at Teguise market, we wanted to go to Haría, but the road was closed due to a car race. Then we decided to visit the East coast instead, starting with El Jardín de los Cactus.
El Jardín de los Cactus is one of the last creations of César Manrique to emphasize the beauty of his birth island.
Situated at the north-east of the island, it gathers more than 400 cactus species, from all over the world. It used to be a stone quarry, but the artist saw a potential in this area and built a peaceful garden, emphasized by an old mill and under the watchful eye of a volcano.
The visit costs 5,80€ ; but my advice is to buy the 4-visits pass if you plan to visit other centers of the CACT (« Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo »).

– La Cueva de los Verdes (9,50€)
– Los Jameos del Agua (9,50€)
– Timanfaya, las Montañas de Fuego (10€)
The 4-visits pass costs only 28€.
We had lunch at the CACT restaurant, inside the garden. I had the occasion to taste for the very first time the « papas arrugadas con mojo » ; the official way to eat potatoes in the Canary Islands. It was yummy and spicy!
Then it was too hot to stay under the sun, and we headed to La Cueva de los Verdes!
